About Moving Towards | Clinical Psychologist in Bristol

About

Hi, I’m Ronda, and I’m a HCPC registered clinical psychologist working part‑time in the NHS. I also offer private therapy for people who want to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters to them. This may mean moving towards clarity, change, or simply finding a space to breathe. I also offer wellbeing talks and workshops.

I hold a deep respect for people’s stories and am drawn to approaches that help us explore them with care and curiosity. I draw on a range of therapeutic models and, in particular, enjoy working with Compassion‑Focused Therapy, which encourages a kinder relationship with ourselves and those around us, useful for when we feel stuck in patterns of self‑criticism or shame.

From my own experiences, I’ve come to understand how unfamiliar and uncomfortable compassion can feel at first, especially when it hasn’t always been part of our lives or when our early experiences have made it hard to access. That’s why I value creating spaces where people can gently explore what gets in the way and begin to meet themselves with more warmth, understanding, and courage.

Therapy

I provide evidence‑based psychological assessment and formulation. A formulation is like a map of you. It helps us make sense of what’s happening for you and guides our work together.

During therapy I draw on third‑wave approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Third‑wave approaches move beyond simply 'fixing' thoughts. They help you develop skills to stay present, practise acceptance, and build self‑compassion, supporting you to face difficult feelings while reconnecting with your values.

Yoga

In addition to my doctorate, I completed a 200‑hour yoga teacher training course to deepen my own practice. Through this, I found that yoga philosophy and movement can offer something meaningful to therapeutic work.

Yoga is available as an optional addition for those who feel it may support their wellbeing. If you prefer, we can continue with psychological therapy alone. There is absolutely no requirement to participate in yoga.

For clients who are curious, yoga can provide a gentle way to explore our relationship with the body, breath, mind, others, and the world around us. When someone expresses an interest in this approach, I can weave elements such as movement, breathwork, and philosophy into our sessions in a way that feels supportive and appropriate.

Flexibility

Weekly sessions are available. Although, I appreciate that weekly sessions aren’t always possible because of life commitments, finances, or personal preference.

I offer a free 20 minute consultation to co‑create a plan that suits you. This might mean fortnightly sessions, a time‑limited approach, a one‑off session, or another arrangement we agree is manageable and helpful.

I offer sessions at Yoga Sara, Montpelier (BS6), and St Anne’s House, Brislington (BS4), as well as online appointments and walking therapy in the local area.
